I like to use those rubber or silicone rolling pin rings. It's so easy. Honestly, who ever measures their pie dough to see the real width! With these nifty rings there is no guess work.
Food processor pie pastry recipe Not sweet
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar (optional- only for sweet pies leave out for savory pies)
1/4 cup cold butter flavor shortening
1/4 cup ice cold water
Add flour and salt to food processor bowl with knife blade in place.
Top with cover; process, pulsing 4 times or until combined.
Add shortening to flour mixture. Process, pulsing 5 or 6 times or just mixture resembles coarse meal. With processor running, slowly add the ice cold water in tiny amounts until dough just begins to form a ball and leaves sides of bowl.
As soon as you see the dough ball leaving the sides of the bowl remove from processor, place in a zip lock bag and chill pastry dough for 30 minutes. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness.
